Opening Ceremony – 2024/25
Young People's Parliament is back! See our highlight video of our opening ceremony for the 2024/25 school year. We would like to say thank you to councillor Waseem Zaffar who officially opened this year's YPP and for participating in the Q & A which allowed The YPP Delegates the opportunity to ask the questions that were important to them. They felt very privileged to have this opportunity.

About Young Peoples Parliament (YPP)

Our Young Peoples Parliament is our core annual project that is open to all our member schools. We work with over 100 young people every year over three school terms to provide knowledge, skills, and opportunities to participate in local decision-making. The exciting programme includes meeting with MPs, local elected members, decision makers in other public services and with local community leaders. Each participant works in a team with other children and young people from their school with support from a mentor/teacher and the HAOS team to plan and deliver a social education/action project relevant to the local neighbourhood of the group members.

Testimonials

“I would like to be a councillor” – Damarni (YPP delegate)

“As someone who started YPP in my school, I have returned as a staff member with great pride” – Ms Khan (staff)

Meet your MP – 2024/25

The YPP Delegates were given the opportunity to meet their local MP Ayoub Khan (the Independent MP for Birmingham Perry Barr) for a Q & A session. Each school delegation is given the opportunity to ask the MP a question that they think is important to them. This year they asked some really tough questions and Ayoub met the challenge and responded fully and honestly to every question asked of him.
